IDEAL FROM 15/18 MONTHS TO 6 YEARS
How can one carrier fit from 15 months to 6 years?
The Lenny Lamb Preschool Hybrid extends as your child grows. There are buttons on each side of the panel to adjust the height, and velcro hidden inside the waistband to adjust the width.
It will be quite bulky to start, as everything needs to be cinched down to the smaller settings for children on the younger side of the age range.
It’s important not to size up too soon. Even if you have a chunky 10-month-old, your toddler will need to be a tall 15 months., or average height 18 months, to get a great fit in this carrier,
If they’re smaller than this, they will likely feel too enclosed in the carrier which they can find frustrating. In a too-big carrier, their weight will hang away from you, making them feel heavier than they are and putting unnecessary strain on your back
The adaptability makes it a brilliant option for sharing between siblings, including those who are several years apart, and parents of different shapes and sizes.
EXCEPTIONALLY SOFT, COMFY AND SUPPORTIVE
The Lenny Lamb preschool hybrid is made of marshmallow-soft woven wrap fabric that looks and feels seriously luxurious. It has a click-on waistband just like a regular carrier, which moulds beautifully around every body shape.
The waistband is cleverly contoured and lightly padded, with no stiffness or digging in, so almost everyone finds it spectacularly comfy and supportive.
Unlike conventional toddler and preschool carriers that have buckled shoulder straps, this hybrid has wide, tie-on shoulder straps that hug around your body.
This carrier is incredibly comfortable as it distributes your child’s weight around your body – both for parent-facing carrying on your front, and back carrying. (Like all toddler and preschool carriers, this isn’t suitable for front-facing carrying).
THERE’S A BABY VERSION, TOO
Love the look of this hybrid but not sure if your child is big enough for it yet? The Lenny Lamb Hybrid Half Buckle baby carrier is near identical, but suitable from 1-2 months until around 2 years.
GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY
Starting at around £179, this may not be a super cheap option, but you’ll be getting a spectacularly well-made – and beautiful – carrier that will last you for many years. So it’s definitely worth the investment.
SUITS PARTNERS OF DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES
The Hybrid is a versatile front-and-back carrier that custom-fits adults from petite to plus size.
It’s an easy carrier to share between couples of different sizes, as only the waistband will need adjusting between wearers. So there will be less faffing around and having to change the settings.
SAY GOODBYE TO TRICKY SHOULDER STRAPS
With conventional rucksack-style carriers, you may find gaps where the straps don’t contour to your shoulders, or straps that ride uncomfortably into your neck.. Or you might find it tricky to do up the little clip behind your back. This hybrid solves that.
The spreadable wrap-style shoulder straps spread over your shoulders, just like a woven wrap, and tighten to fit around you and your baby perfectly, every time.
There are no fiddly buckles to reach or do up and no hard plastic digging into your chest: perfect for curvy and plus-sized bodies.
A GREAT BACK CARRY FOR PETITE MUMS
As a petite, 5ft 2 mum, I get frustrated that most carriers will not fit me on their tightest measurement.
With the Lenny Lamb Hybrid – both the preschool and baby size version – there’s no compromise on the fit as they are tightened to your exact size! The result is a high and supportive carry, and great views even for younger babies.
For petite folks, the tails will hang long when tied off at the waist. I prefer to wrap them over my chest and tuck them through the shoulder straps so they look neat and are kept out of the way.
HANDY EXTRAS
There’s a generously sized pocket in the waistband for your phone, and a coordinating hood that poppers on and off.
DOWNSIDES
This carrier isn’t for everyone. Some folks are put off by the length of the wrap tails and worry about them dangling onto wet or muddy ground while tying.
It needs a little patience to learn how to tie and hold the tension for a fully supportive carry. Many families will end up opting for the more conventional full buckle version, the Lenny Lamb Preschool Carrier.
But for those who put comfort first, and those who covet woven wraps – this carrier could be the one!
