UNIQUE DESIGN
The Cococho is unlike anything else on the market. This unique carrier has an internal harness where your baby is loaded and secured before lifting them to your front or back. It looks and feels like a protective cocoon from the outside world 🙂
It’s designed by a mum who happens to be an industrial designer – so no surprise it’s incredibly cleverly designed!
BACK CARRY POSITION
The back carry position is where the Cococho shines best.
Soft structured carriers are usually only suitable for back carrying from around 6 months. The Cococho offers an early back carry solution from just 4 months.
Parents who usually describe themselves as nervous or clumsy can achieve an independent back carry with the Cococho after a little practice. The harness and safety strap make it easy to pop your baby on like a backpack.
The Cococho gives a comfortable and high carry which will offer great views to your baby.
COCOCHO VS A HIKING BACKPACK
Framed carriers are cumbersome. They’re not a great fit for petite to average height mums either, as they can make you feel unstable as your is baby is positioned away from your centre of gravity.
In comparison, the Cococho is lightweight and holds your baby close, making it the more comfortable option for parents of all shapes and sizes.
The Cococho is adaptable with two waistband settings, so it can grow with your baby. It’ll last to around 3 years, which is much longer than a framed carrier.
WHAT ABOUT FRONT CARRIES?
While it’s safe to use in the front parent-facing position from newborn, it’ll feel a little bulky to start. So I find it’s best suited from around 2-3 months.
Soft-structured carriers can feel like a juggling act to put on, especially for first-time parents or those with super wiggly babies!
The beauty of the Cococho is that young babies are pre-loaded into the internal harness from your lap, a table, or the sofa. It feels reassuring and means you can take your time.
This carrier will also suit grandparents, or those with strength and mobility issues, where an additional caregiver can assist by placing the carrier on you if needed.
ERGONOMICS
‘Ergonomic’ is a word often used to describe baby carriers, but the Cococho’s designers really have given careful consideration to the fit and comfort of both the baby and the wearer.
A clever feature of the Cococho is its passive head support. It doesn’t restrict your baby’s head, neck, or shoulders. The Cococho is acknowledged as ‘hip healthy’ by the institute for hip dysplasia, too.
For those concerned about their back or pelvic floor, an early back carry solution is a good option as loads are usually better managed on the back.
The shoulder straps are unbelievably comfortable and my favourite feature! They are softly padded and lay flat and contoured to my shoulders. Cococho wins for a comfortable back carry, with my child’s weight distributed evenly through the waistband and the shoulder straps.
EASY TO TRANSFER A SLEEPING BABY!
As your baby is safely contained in the harness, you can transfer your baby from one parent to the other or into a cot, making sleepy transfers a realistic possibility!
CLEVER EXTRAS
Currently in two neutral colours – black or grey – the external fabric is silky and sleek. The inside is padded and covered with super soft mesh for excellent airflow.
There’s a handy mirror attachment so you can check on your baby, and hidden little pockets in the waistband for your keys or a spare pacifier.
DOWNSIDES
The Cococho is bulky at first glance. It’s not a “just in case” carrier, or one that can easily be squished into a changing bag like the Tula Lite.
But that’s the point. It’s designed to be worn for long stretches of time and the padding is there to give you comfort and support.
It doesn’t offer outward-facing front carries, but who needs this position when a high back carry is infinitely more comfortable and gives good views.
Plus your child will freely able to move their arms if they wish – and from 4 months can have their arms fully outside the carrier – so they’ll never feel restricted.
It’s overall one of my absolute favourite back carriers.
Hi do you sell or rent these? i’m keen to try it but i cant find it anywhere!!
Hi Christiana, unfortunately we no longer stock this item. If you haven’t already you could contact Cococho Baby directly and ask if they have any plans to restock. Our team offers online consultations (£20/30 minutes) where we could demo alternative carriers that could be used for back carry – if you would like any support looking at alternative options, Tammy
