Podegais and Onbuhimos are great for back carries and pregnant babywearers.
WHAT ARE PODEGAIS AND ONBUHIMOS?
Podegais and Onbuhimos are inspired by traditional Asian style carriers.
They are similar to Meh Dais (Mei Tais) but have no waistband or waist strap. This makes them ideal for back carries – especially for older babies and toddlers – and for use by pregnant women who may find waistbands of structures carriers uncomfortable, particularly in later pregnancy.
There are relatively few ‘ready-made’ ones on the market compared to other carriers, so many people buy custom made ones from small manufacturers. However, they are increasing in popularity with many brands released Onbuhimo style carriers with buckles.
